Round 6: Tossup 18

A shot of three characters using these objects slowly pans up to capture a city skyline as a character in voice over declares “But someday we ought to be able to… because it has already begun” as the screen fades to white. A character laments, “school kids these days…” before one of these objects crashes through the window of a restaurant and hits him after a car is destroyed using a grenade made from a light bulb. Extremely heavy breathing and Indonesian gamelan music plays over a scene where the Capsules battle the (*) Clowns using these objects. A bright red example of these objects is admired by a character who is told that he “couldn’t handle it” before being recommended to “steal one for yourself”. A sequence which culminates in a game of chicken ends with Kaneda sliding sideways on one of these objects, (10[1])an image which has since become ubiquitous in pop culture.
