This is the most famous musical number to be both choreographed and directed by Jack Cole, who supposedly drew on bharata nāṭyam for its arm movements and hip swings. Rachel Bloom sings “I need to decide which man’s more acute” in a parody of this number from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend titled “The Math of Love Triangles.” Either Gloria Wood or Marni Nixon dubbed several high “nos” for this number’s opening, in which a folding fan swats the faces of men who mime (*) shooting themselves. This number is later reprised in court by a disguised friend who strips out of a mink (10[1])coat, revealing a showgirl costume. The music video (10[1])for “Material Girl” pays homage to this number.
